The best part about the new year is the feeling of new beginnings and leaving the clutter of 2017 behind us. We as human beings love fresh starts. Wiping the slate clean. Pressing restart. A facelift for the soul. The excitement of new possibilities is here! Are you ready? How will you celebrate and change?
So why is going to the gym more one of our top resolutions? Well, we usually let that slip the most, and because of that, our healthy life style takes a bit of a hit. Not to fear! Lets get the ball rolling this year with some tips on keeping that motivation going all year around.
1) Get some music that gets you going
Music can play a huge role in your work out sessions. The right tune can be as motivating as a personal trainer. Need more music inspiration? Check out our amazing dance classes!
2) Buy a fitness tracker
Keeping goals can be tiring enough, let your tracker do the work for you while you focus on what is imporant! It doesn't have to be expensive but investing in any will not only make you look like you just came from the gym, but hopefully motivate you to go!
3) Make it a social event
KEEP IT SIMPLE & MAKE IT FUN! Invite a friend to the gym and get competitive! Not only does it boost your mood but it can be a great way to keep things fresh at the gym. Tip* Invite a different friend every few weeks, soon you will have a whole team supporting each other every time you get your sweat on!
4) Ask for support and talk about it
Don’t beat yourself up if you miss a day or two. Start small and ease your way into what ever it is you want to obtain. Asking for friendly reminders and talking out loud can help you prioritize what you really want out of your resolutions.
5) Just keep going
Remember, a little work out each day is significantly better than no work out. Getting into the habit is much harder . So once you have your schedule set, stick to it! You are much more likely to stick to your work out if it becomes a habit, and not a start and stop pattern.
6) Implement energy boosting foods into your meals this year
A little extra energy can go a long way!
Drink water every morning as soon as you get up from bed for a quick refresher. Get to that goal of eight glasses a day. This improves your skin elasticity, energy levels, and helps your over all system.
Think about your life style and what little tips could help remind you to stay active.
Make a list of five of your own easy reminders you would like to start implementing into your schedule.
Remember that to create any new habit, you need consistency!
You can create little triggers in your life style to remind you to stop and take a moment for yourself.
