What is a Barre Workout?

In a nutshell, it is a popular, low-impact, ballet-inspired class that incorporates moves from ballet, Pilates, and yoga to upbeat music. 

Do I need to be a dancer?
Nope, although if you are one, you are welcome to join us as well. 
Do I need a ballet barre?
Again - nope.  A chair, back of a sofa or pretty much anything about that height that you can hold onto will do.  


Do I need to be super fit or athletic?
You get it - Nope.  Barre Workout is great for any level.  There is no difficult choreography and the movements are small and controlled.  The emphasis is on proper alignment, balance, and core engagement.  There is no jumping or bouncing  so the workout is easy on the joints. You are always encouraged to work at your own level.

What are the benefits of Barre Workout?
It will help improve your balance, build strength, increase flexibility, burn calories, add definition and improve stability through a stronger core. Most people will tell you that they feel like every tiny muscle in their core, butt, arms, and legs has been targeted. Yes, you will feel the burn!

What equipment do I need for the class?
In addition to your chair, stool, sofa etc., you will need some small weights and resistance bands if you have them.
